Janet Brown, Founder of Grace For Life. London, U.K.
You may think, that this is an odd question, transitioning into my new lifestyle and business. I have come to the realization, that this is both a physical and mental journey. All the stuff that we hide, or keep a lid on surfaces, you get to know the depth of your conviction, you realize that your obstacles and challenges are actually your learning and growth, and not something to be embarrassed or guilty about.
All the great business people go through it,in fact,we can take it as a given, that your doing it wrong, if you don’t get those stumbles and bumps, and I can’t do this no more as normal. There I have said it. One, two, three - breath in and out with me. We have individual lessons to learn for our own personal development. It is, an exciting journey, setting out to do a new thing. Many words come up that come in mix of ingredients –here are some resilence, vulnerability, celebration, scared, fearful, confidence, mind talk, strong, risk, patience, stress, trust. I am sure you will agree, that most of us do business,to make a difference for ourselves and others. It is indeed, important to have the strategy tools to do in business, although it’s equally important to be flexible to change.
How we apply ourselves,is the fuel needed to accomplish our mission. Having an in depth relationship with yourself, means embracing what you like and what you don’t like equally. Detoxing the mind chatter, that keeps you stuck, and employ new tools that will aid your success. Learning that not knowing it all, and surrendering is fine (big lesson for me, work in progress). Celebrating the small goals, not ignoring them, and thinking of only the big ones. Feeling brave about what you have done so far, whatever so far is for you girl, feel great. Join others who celebrate and support your journey. You’ll find that your old friends may not get you, or what your doing. Don’t despair, relationships may change, do a diligent check to see how they are serving you (have a mentor or coach, join online groups, and build with your new tribe).
What medicines, are you using to keep your physical being in shape – sleep, exercise, diet, connecting with others. Mind - where are your thoughts taking you, what do you do to calm the mind, making decisions. I am learning to let go the control, it relaxes the mind, visualzing what you want, speaking into what it is you want and trusting and believing that it can happen. It is fine, not to be on top of the world every day, make a promise to state your name and just say I love you any way, every day. Your environment should also make you feel good, make sure there is lots of colour, to lift the mood. Use the power of nature, to keep you grounded, it’s all free. Watch the sunrise, run on the sand bare feet, sit on the top of a mountain, and breath in the air, allow yourself to feel free.
Tips 1. Be in touch with your emotional well being (adjust activities where necessary. You will have high and low times. Do activities that make you feel well rounded and balanced. Have a start your day activity, that brings calm for the day. E.g affirmations, gratification ritual. Allow yourself, to grow into your chosen lifestyle and business, celebrate your wins, and work on improving other areas. Unwrap the situations of disappointments, rejections, setbacks etc. Whatever is revealed, take the opportunity to change the situation, where necessary. Talk to someone who can help, you don’t have to do it alone. Be authentic, and true to the diamond you are.
3. Write down all the things that you are doing well, right now. Stick it somewhere you can see it. Read it regularly,as a reminder for, why you do what you do.
Let me know how you get on.
